taqiyyah
En el Islam, práctica que permite a una persona ocultar su fe y abstenerse de cumplir los deberes religiosos habituales cuando existe una amenaza de muerte o daño que se cierne sobre ella u otros fieles musulmanes.

Su fundamento se encuentra en el Corán, y se estima que Mahoma fue el primero en dar el ejemplo cuando optó por la Hégira. Desde entonces, ha sido practicada principalmente por las minorías, en especial aquellas de la rama chiita. Existen varias reglas respecto de su aplicación, con el fin de evitar que la taqiyyah se convierta en una excusa para la cobardía o para no actuar en forma apropiada. Por lo general, se privilegia más la comunidad que el bienestar personal.
